It should have been apparent from the downgraded textures on Pikachu here, but I was too jaded by LGPE not having all the Pokemon to realize that the high quality, open world game we all wanted on Switch already released in 2018.

Except this actually has more effort than most box art because they made new artwork for the legendaries instead of just copy+pasting the standard sugi artwork.

Yeah the sleek minimalistic interface is ruined a bit by the fact that it still uses sprites to represent items and Pokémon.
They should have swapped those to clean vectors too, could just use dream world art for most of it

I remember in the Direct where they announced these games, Masuda and Ohmori bothlooked and sounded like they’d completely given up. Contrast that to the guy who directed the DLC who actually seemed excited to talk about his project in the reveal Direct. This series really does need new blood.
