What's your favorite animal and your favorite Pokemon based on that animal? Personally I think owls are the coolest and noctowl is my favorite flying type.

My favorite animals are leafy sea dragons, they’re such weird and interesting creatures. That leaves me pretty limited to Dragalge.. which, while I don’t mean any hate as it’s a really cool design on its own, isn’t exactly one of my favorites. It just doesn’t have the same appeal to me as the real animal does, plus its more like a WEEDY sea dragon anyways, just with some extra “leaves” on it.

I think Rillaboom is the only real gorilla, so I'm going to have to go with that (despite having never played Sw/Sh and if I ever do I'd go with the water type during my first playthrough)

I really hate that, if a design based on a certain animal manages to not be appealing to those who really like that animal, it really fails as a design. It really shows how incompetent they can be when designing some pokemon. I always felt than just a water-grass sea dragon for dragalgae (or dragon-grass), would have been waaay better than what we got.

Yeah same, it’s sad. It doesn’t have to be “literally my mom’s [animal]” to capture the same appeal, you just have to think about what makes that animal unique and interesting and transform, elevate, and exaggerate it

Back when i was a kid i used to be obsessed with marine life and Pokémon. I have a particular fondness regarding Horsea because of how i begged and cried for my cousin to let me keep her shitty plastic Horsea figurine when i was younger.

I love hyenas, they're interesting, cute and beautiful. Mightyena is based on a striped/brown hyena depending on who you ask (it's striped), and a bit of grey wolf. They're also my favorite-favorite Pokémon.

Crabs are my favorite, I like all kinds but my super fave is the Atlantic Ghost Crab, Dwebble is my favorite crabmon along with Crustle.

On a side note why the fuck is Slowbro called the "Hermit Crab Pokemon"? It's a weird hippo thing and doesn't purposely shed it's Shellder for a new one or anything like that, and none of its Pokedex entries mention anything similar to what a hermit crab actually does.
