Most Locations have huge changes but are still familiar, there’s a completely new story that’s a bit more mature (the game is marketed towards adults who grew up with pokemon), and all the original 151 appear as well as their evolutions/pre-evos/variants. No grid. No hms. Heaps of quality of life changes. Bigger focus on the weird creepy mysteries of Kanto.
And also.. new pokemon. New pokemon dating allll the way back from the series’ initial creation when it was but a sketch on paper. Beta gen 1 Pokemon (and maybe some from 2) that got scrapped for one reason or another make a grand return, redesigned to be fully fleshed out concepts.
And finally a hidden missingno-inspired Ultra Beast in the postgame.
