Every gen since first US release. But all the qol improvements, methods of shiny hunting, and the last gen with a nat dex makes this the last gen really worth playing.
If sun/moon had only had the last bit I MIGHT agree with you. But I've completed the dex in every gen, and losing out on that feeling of completion hit hard. Still maintain a pokemon bank with a living dex, occasionally go back to breed out another shiny or 5-6 IV and improve it. Self farmed near perfect legendaries with proper hidden powers, all the things.
Sun and Moon just didn't/couldn't hook me in the same way. X and Y felt like playing gen one again, and ORAS was the best homage to oldgen I could have ever hoped for, even better that HG/SS.
