I decided to challenge myself by not reusing anything from previous smash games or pre-3DS pokemon games.

I don't want to cut old Pokemon even if I'm not too fond of them. I think Chomp and Zacian would ge popular and be fun to play as. Zacian could be the anime sword fighter everyone seethes at.

I think that's literally all I want. Starters aren't evergreen and I don't really want to over-represent any generation with how much gen 1 is already here. I'm hesitant to add Machamp or Gengar due to that. Other good reps mostly come from gen 4 or 6 (Weavile, Garchomp, Hawlucha, Chandelure, mostly off pokken and popularity polls) but gen 4 and 6 already have representation before 3, 7, or 8. Maybe gardevoir or blaziken would be good.

I'm going under the assumption that the next game takes place during Gen 9 and the "Everyone is here!" thing is dropped:

That's it. Don't need 10 Pokemon. Cut the two joke characters and the dated shillmons.
