Acknowledged them by saying yes they exist, they've only revealed about less than 50 though. The way they work, if they feel they can keep the base design and rework it to fit a different region, they hold it back and sit on it. It's only after a certain amount of time, they bin the design as a potential idea.

Almost all of them had parts of their designs used in other pokemon or became another pokemon entirely. Internally, pokemon designs fluctuate a LOT and something could look completely different in just 1 month while under development. There might also be mons that have finalized designs but get removed for whatever reason and used in other games. Gastrodon is an exmaple of this. It was finalized by gen 3 but was put in gen 4

Nitpick, but finalised means it's getting into the game and Sugi draws the official art for it. It was purely a beta in Gen III, they decided to cut it again after the beta build, then working on it more before it got finalised for Gen IV.

Fun Fact: Kricketot is the only Gen IV mon that looks like a Gen III mon because it's literally a repurposed Gen III betamon reject.

Gastrodon was unfortunately found nowhere in the files or the backup Pokedex entries.
