>>45916198As for my thoughts on all the gens and my favorite/least favorite games:
>Gen 1great start, super nostalgic and recognizable, really defined a large part of Pokemon's soul, and had one of the better and more unique art styles.
>Gen 2maybe my favorite, improved upon Gen 1 in almost every way, added great new mons and locales, polished up the formula and added its own stuff
>Gen 3 not quite as good as Gen 2, but still a high quality classic. Hoenn is one of my favorite regions to this day, and is very close to my heart since it was the one I first played a game in
>Gen 4had a rough start, but it ended on a very high note with Platinum and HGSS. Not a huge fan of the artstyle shift and Pokemon designs. Handheld spinoff games were at their peak.
>Gen 5very weird, very new, took a little time to warm up to. Definitely the border between classic Pokemon and nuPokemon. I love these games today, but I see why some people dislike them. Spinoff games and the anime took a major nosedive and haven't quite come back since.
>Gen 6not amazing but I still think they're overhated and underrated. Had the best online system with PSS, introduced Pokemon Amie which finally let us bond more with our Pokemon, let us customize our trainer's skin tone, eye color, hair, and clothes which was a massive positive for me.
>Gen 7the worst generation in the series, this is where everything became a slow hallway. Constant interruptions, zero freedom, way too much dialogue and cutscenes for a mediocre story, linear railroad through hallways for over half the game.
>Gen 8undecided, I think it's not quite as bad as Gen 7, but it suffers from many of the same problems. Thankfully the DLC was good, and the online multiplayer experience is the best it's ever been (tied with gen 6). I love Dynamax Adventures and Max Raids. Cooperative multiplayer is something I've wanted in Pokemon for ages. And the gym battles/stadiums are cool. Still meh overall.
