I mean, logically speaking, "Special Attack" shouldn't really be a thing and every Pokemon would want to know at least one ranged attack. Being a purely close-range or purely long-range fighter wouldn't really work in actual battles. That was the whole deal with Iris's Excadrill learning Focus Blast. Up until then, it only knew close-range attacks like Dig, Drill Run, and Metal Claw

Pokemon has more than one canon. The games aren't canon to the anime or manga either.

But fucking apply logic; living organisms don't have "stats". The game is just numbers, but if Pokemon were real, they wouldn't be dictated by numbers.

You can use real life logic for Pokemon, but you can't use Pokemon logic for real life. This isn't rocket science.

In the context of their universe, Pokemon are biological creatures, thus they don't have numbers attached to them.

Pokemon has more than one source of canon.

The games (but not their gameplay mechanics) are only canon to the games.
The anime is only canon the anime.
The manga is only canon to the manga.

Nothing is "non-canon" in Pokemon. Everything is canon to itself, because it's a multimedia franchise.

No, canon is the one accepted by the owner. George Joestar light novel is not canon to Jojo, but Purple Haze:Feedbaxk light novel is, because Jojo-creator man said so.
A series that has an entire book written about how they are not cannon (and how they should be more accurate to the game mechanics) by the owner, is definitely not canon.

The term canon, as it is now comes from Christian/Jewish Theology, when they were attempting to decipher which books of the Bible were true.
There is one canon, other sets of books being taken as true is coda, or divergent canon, and must be specified as seperate from canon, to aid in conversation.
