There were 3 version of pokemon when it first came out. There were green, red, and blue version but green were only for japan. For the US only two version red and blue were release. And no, its not bootleg. Go goolge it

Looks more like they couldn't be bothered to use original Green Version carts, or just for easy recognition by non-fans that wouldn't know about Green Version anyway? Seems they were also short one Yellow cart.
