Charizard (Solar Power if Sun is already up, to set up Sun if another player is using a weathermon without switching)
Rain Dish Blastoise
Inner Focus Alakazam (goes Mega to Trace a good ability from the opponent, so usually not turn 1)
Gengar (Because of Levitate, in Gen 8 it would be to make it so that the opponent can still switch out in case they would otherwise kill Gengar and you want to force a switch somehow)
Hyper Cutter Pinsir to combat Intimidate, Mold Breaker Pinsir to revenge kill most things, Moxie if you're revenge kill is assured and you know you'll outspeed
Moxie Gyarados for the same reason as Pinsir
Unnerve Aerodactyl to break some Belly Drum sets which were really common with Azumarill in Gen 6
Static Ampharos if you're predicting a Fake Out (Mega Evolution happens before that)
Guts Heracross to take advantage of an incoming burn that would cripple the mega (in this case you wouldn't even go mega at all for that battle)
Unnerve Houndoom
Unnerve Tyranitar or to set up Sandstorm again against an opposing weathermon
Hyper Cutter Mawile or to Intimidate switch which was also a common tactic in Gen 6 and is literally the reason why Incineroar was popular in Gen 7
Rock Head Aggron for when you know you can get the kill with regular Aggron and don't want the 50% recoil
Lightningrod Manectric
Insomnia Banette
Justified Absol, alongside a Beat Up Pokemon in doubles
Rough Skin Garchomp against opposing Kangaskhan Fake outs
Inner Focus Lucario, or Justified.
Soundproof Abomasnow against a sound move spammer (Boomburst was common, remember?)'
These are just the XY megas, too.
