You absolutely should not think of it like that because DLC is a bigger gyp than third versions ever were.
Go on eBay and look at the pokemon carts. They are probably worth at least as much now as when you paid for them, adjusting for inflation. They very well might be worth more.
So you have not lost money, you have traded it for an asset that is up to this point appreciating in value.
Can you sell your DLC?
Are you even guaranteed that you will have access to your DLC in the future?
Think about how much venom was poured on Gamefreak over the years for third/enhanced versions vs how everyone has basically been conditioned to accept DLC. It's amazing.

Not him, but zero, I actualy like to play Pokemon, so that time was actualy spent doing a Nuzlocke run, battling online and trying to fill the dex/collect resources to make battle ready Pokemons.

Getting good IV shit to breed thru MAX RAID means my time popping eggs is also minimal. I was in the 300 hours before DLC was out.

Anon, Nintendo were on their arse to make Pokémon 2 for '97. They know every year without a release is a year the franchise goes cold, it's why they were so eager to keep the train rolling during Pokémania - they expected the arse to drop out and it to die off.
Factors haven't changed, gotten worse actually. More distractions, more mobile games more competition for child eyes means they can't afford to put the brakes on, they don't ant a situation where there's a chunk of children who didn't experience a new game launch as they entered the target market. There was never any choice for a delay, because they don't want them delayed, even for a year of polish.

Because they couldn't get a critical part of its engine working properly (the wi-fi) and seeing as how they were planning GTS and online battling for the games, they kinda HAD to delay.
But when there's no reason to delay, why would they waste money dragging out the devcycle? Especially as they still (despite your incel crying) see these games as they always have seen them - kid's games that SHIFT consoles by the truckload.
