Zelda started as Miyamoto wanted to try an action-adventure home-console game, again targeting the entire demographic because games back then weren't being split into "for kids" and "for adults" like they started in the 90's and Metroid was a generic side-scrolling shooter, up to the part where Samus revealed she was a woman, thereby pandering to the female market, before there even WAS a pander to the female gamer movement.
Pokémon was envisioned by Tajiri as a game kids could ape the type of childhood he'd had crawling around searching for creatures to fight with his friends with. He'd made it specifically to be more relevant story and scenario-wise than adults nad the very fact they've continued that basic template for 24 years is evidence enough they contiue to see the series in this light.
If you weren't old enough to have actually played the game, experienced the era and come to understand the factors in the growth and development of the gaming industry over 30 years, don't talk horseshit about it son and that's ignoring the devs themselves admitting they were surprised they saw as many adults as children playing the games when they got big in Japan.
