LGPE flopped because it was a bland game targeted exclusively to children, you literally can't battle gym leaders if you don't have a super effective pokemon. thanks for proving my point i guess.
SwSh was also a flop. Not only its overall quality is incredibly low but it created the biggest controversy pokemon has ever seen.
every switch game saw an increase in sales just because of the machine itself, that's why it "appears" swsh sold more than the last few pokemon games. BUT in reality this only was because of the boosted switch sales i talked about, in fact all other main nintendo franchises surpassed pokemon FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER thanks to swsh, and the latter didn't even finish top 3. odyssey iirc actually sold more in the last quarter so it could lose the top 5 too. not to mention game freak had to bend the knee and listen to BBND, bringing back the majority of older pokemon.
