Platinum’s overrated. Its fixes are shit only hardcore autists care about. DP were the games that saved the series’ reputation, and no amount of “muh hp bars” will change that. Platinum was a mere cash grab like the rest.

Platinum were certainly better games and while I do think the wider audience really appreciated the better flow and speed of the game, D/P were still excellent pokemon games on the basis that Sinnoh is by far the best region in the games so far

In my experience, DP was around the time Pokemon fell out of favor for the normies, but was also around when the autists became interested in competitive battling.

That might be true but a game that fixes those flaws, and then adds new content is a better experience. It fixes the speed issues, it fixes bugs, it has a better dex, the important battles are all better, it's graphically better, and it has hours of new content. There is not a single reason to play Diamond and Pearl over Platinum. Not a single one.

My problem with DiaPer isn't the slowness, but the terrible regional dex.
The selling point of Pokemon is obviously the Pokemon, and having more Pokemon to choose from is obviously a big improvement.

I think some of the old tiles are nice to see, the old dex being so small is an interesting design even if it can very well be too small for many people, and I really just like the alternative gym route, it's kind of interesting and makes original d/p stand out a bit in a playthrough

I played that gen for the first time this year (only gen i missed) and was really disappointed. the story is so lame, and almost non existent until the end. and the stupid alt reality you go to was just frustrating and boring

the pokemon designs are neat though, and some the map designs are nice
