I am pretty new at this and I also try to avoid making furry/humanoid designs, but if anything I don't recommend that, that's just how I'd rather do things. You'll much faster find your audience by showcasing your style and throw humanoids in, instead of gimmick and objectmons, but I still prefer the latter.
