How was the feedback to the franchise in your country? Did it start any fads or not?

Did you know anyone else who played the games or watch the anime?

Personally since I'm from Venezuela the few pokefags I've known either pirated the games or use R4.

I did see some merchandise from time to time however, also in latin american countries apparently the Pokemon fad was called "The Yellow Fever".
