For Sword and Shield Is there anything I should do end base game before heading into the DLC?

Not really, in fact it would ruin your experience because the dlc doesn’t scale much further than the main story.

I would say play the DLC before any end game stuff to avoid overlevling. Not like there's that many trainers to battle, but still
