There were also cases of male kitsunes taking on the form of human women. Wouldn't that be a laugh?
Beyond that, there were some really nasty kitsunes, especially on the mainland. The Korean ones were infamous as man eaters (and not in the lewd way), and while the Chinese ones were a mixed bag, you should look up Daji for a fun read.
