>>459724664chan race realists jump in any anime or game discussion. Dark skin can't be black, Japanese looking characters in Tecmo games have white features, etc.,
The problem with the Nessa discussion is while there are cases where confirmed black anime characters have downplayed features, Pokémon is a world that isn't quite set in our own world but instead one with similar analogues which make the race question impossible to confirm by anyone in the company since that's not the point of the brand.
If fans of the series young and old that happen to be black wanna embrace characters like Olivia, Nessa and Iris as someone they can relate to, it seems harmless enough but some folks feel sick to their stomach about that stuff and feel like they have to disprove or condemn that for whatever reason that benefits little if anyone but themselves. It's an issue that's become an unnecessary hill to die on and regardless of what the character is or isn't supposed to be sensible people just wanna fap to the character and don't care about the mindless debate with no answer in sight.
