>>45965750>>45965760>The lack of content? Masuda just directed a game and it had just as little content as the newer games Ohmori has directed. You gotta look closer at what Ohmori's shat out to see what I mean. Let's take the infamous Battle Frontier display in ORAS. They made a whole new area to put their battle facility, and even a model for the Battle Tower which was used in the infamous frontier display. Perhaps I'm being too charitable, but I legitimately do not believe anyone at GF would modeled a Battle Tower just to mock people who expected it. I suspect it was intended to be a full scale tower and that they ran out of time and just copypasted the maison instead and put up a little display.
Then you have the less infamous skip year between ORAS and SM. If this were ten years ago it would be less conspicuous, but in the last decade nearly every year has seen a new Pokemon release(this includes DLC, mind you), aside from 2011 and 2015. And for the latter, it was pretty obvious they were focusing on getting SM out in time for 2016.
And then finally there's SWSH. It barely functions. It's more barebones than Pokemon has ever been, and even on a narrative level it's an unfinished mess. They used fucking placeholder artwork for a big cutscene for fuck's sake. And this is what happened when Ohmori didn't have the entire fucking company skipping a release year to hold his goddamn hand through development.
Say what you want about bad direction, but at least LGPE functions well. It might be worse than FRLG with significantly less content, but it accomplishes exactly what it set out to do and it does so much more smoothly than SM and especially SWSH. And that's what I mean. Another director could make a game that suits Masuda's direction and still sneak in some goodies for the rest of us, or at the very least make something complete, functional, and on time. Ohmori can't direct for shit.
