i'm adjusting it a bit so there's not as much overlap. I reached Santalune and just realized why most people haven't done this... the different angles and height make the area hard to line up. currently referencing route 2's tall grass patches for scaling routes and paths for towns. hopefully I can use pokecenters as references too

sorry for the small image but hopefully you guys can tell what I'm trying to do?

I'm trying to make a better version that will please my autism and using bulbapedia maps. The resolution varies for each route so don't expect it to be too good but I thought you'd be interested anyways. Each route has a different angle which is fucking annoying so I'm doing my best to make everything to scale

Lumiose was a fucking pain to do and I don't care if it's not perfect

I'm trying to be detailed but a guy can only have so much patience. Hopefully the end result won't look too bad

Uh, I should warn you it's not high quality at all, I used bulbapedia's maps for it. However if you find any high quality scans you might use mine as a template. Also I'm having trouble lining up some parts so it'll take a while before I'm completely done

Here is... a version of it. Not included are
-Parfum Palace (I scaled it but it doesn't fit)
-Pokemon League (can't find an overhead pic of it
-Deepest parts of the cave dungeons + the hotel one in routes 15/16

Things that didn't line up
-Parfum Palace (doesn't even fit)
-Snowbelle
-the lost woods route (for obvious reasons)
-Connecting Cave to Cyllage
-Route 16 to Lumiose

If I still have the energy I might try angling them like on the map. I tried it with Lumiose's southern routes and it seems promising

Anyone got a link to a model viewer for gamecube? There's a lot of Orre locations that don't have decent overview shots like this and almost none exist of the interiors. I did find one fanart of the world map but it's got some issues besides just being drawn with not a lot of detail in places.

I'd like to see a RSE hack with the orientation of everything flipped to match Kyushu. So instead of going north from your hometown, you'd be going right. Though houses and such will still be facing the screen/south.

the vast majority of the sprites have been revised, from the bollards, the water, the rooftops... they are all different sprites even if the differences are subtle.
also in red and blue they expanded some of the unreachable areas, like the ilusive infamous tall grass to the right of the fences in route 1 doesnt exist in red and green.

Because it was unlike any other region in the franchise and more specifically a desert contrasts pretty well against Hoenn's lush, tropical landscape full of water and gen 3 was all about duality between the double battles, counterpart pokemon like plusle and minun, two evil teams, ect. Also since they were going for grittier themes a desert is very fitting: harsh landscape makes survival more challenging for people and pokemon so many people turn to crime or at least questionable actions to get by and there's no wild pokemon around, if it's all just sand you're not missing much by not having routes yet if they decided to make some anyway they at least would've been different from every other grassy field you pass through in all the other games, and it's far away from other regions so the culture shock (lack of gyms/league, no professor handing out starters, ect) is easier to justify in a world with so many set constants.
