I just wish all the cross-gen evolutions were as cool as Gliscor. I mean, there is gonna be duds in every bunch, whether they're cross-gen or mega or inflatiomaxing. Still, I wish the ratio was a bit better.

There's some missteps, but especially a bunch of Gen 2 monsters badly needed evolutions. They weren't even as strong as normal single stage Pokemon.

Really liked the idea of cross generation evolution because it felt more connected. Regional forms are a mess and most likely the status quo now since it doesn't increase the dex size like cross generation evolutions.

I like megas, zmoves, and dynamax for at least adding a new layer of strategy onto the combat. Crossgen evolution doesn't do that. Doesn't mean we can't have both. Megas should be reserved for pokemon that already have 3+ stages, while cross-gen evolutions can be given to pokemon that only have 1 or 2 stages.

The main issue with Megas is how it is dedicated to a few mons, and many who were already monsters without one, while either making others shit or not giving one at all
The idea itself is amazing, the execution is flawed sadly

Gliscor is shit and ruined Gligor. At least megas are temporary and dont cause irreparable damage to your favorite mons like all the gen 4 cross gwn evos.

Not really. Megas are less like an evolution and more like an expansion. The difference between, say, Charmeleon to Charizard is a lot bigger than the difference between Charizard-X/G(/G-Max). Wanting a mega is like wanting a small boost to your favourite Pokemon or some fancy new look, while wanting an evolution is asking for an entirely new Pokemon related to the Pokemon you like for it to interact with. Neither desire is inherently bad but they're two very different concepts and shouldn't be considered interchangeable.

Not really for me, but I respect you. I love how quirky Z looks and acts in Gen V sprites. I'm kinda afraid of fighting it too since it has a monstrous special attack but doesn't look the part, so it's always a surprise how much damage it can deal.

I prefer Porygon2 for the stupidly absurd tankiness of it because Z exists though.

While evolution is generally pefered for true shitmons like dunsparce and luvdisc megas do have a couple of advantages.

Sort of, but you have to be really frail to not benefit at all from eviolite. Even shit like Scyther and Electabuzz loved using it (until Boots came along for the latter, at least). The only pre-evo I know of that didn’t benefit at all from Eviolite is Sneasel.
