Um, all the gen 4 games have the same color palette right? Aren't you being retarded anon by posting DP next to HGSS?
Correct me if I'm the retard.
However, I think the colors need to fit the game/region well to work of course.
I don't count RBY cause it was mono.
GSC had a limited palette but it was used fantastically, and the sprite work was on point. Some would argue it was the best in the series.
RSE has a great palette, but this began the vibrant color era, mainly due to the GBA screen not having a backlight so they wanted everything to be clear to the player. On a lit screen it still looks fantastic. Sprites were totally changed, and I don't dislike them, but I prefer the gen 2 ones. For example, pic related is GSC mawile sprite. Look how much better it looks. New pokemon in RSE are of course some of the best designed.
DPPt and HGSS....this is a mixed bag. I personally hate the color choices and overall look of the games, but some areas were beautiful.
I'm sorry but BW & BW2 look atrocious.
XY are beautiful games. They have a great color palette and great, scenic views. They are definitely going with a certain style and if you dislike the chibi look you won't like it I guess, but I love it.
ORAS still looks okay, but could've been so much better.
SM & USUM are even more gorgeous than XY. The region looks just amazing, the colors fit. I will say that since the move to 3D, I dislike the stylistic change to pokemon design (talking about even the original 151). Its only gone downhill since GSC in terms of how they look in game. The older pokemon at least, because they're way too different. New pokemon don't suffer the comparison so they can look good.
SwSh....where to begin. SOME of the things in these games are stunning, for example the pokemon and some characters are great. Some effects and animations are kino. Others are trash, recycled, or lazy it seems. And the overworld is overall yucky. Especially the wild area. I do love the color design of SwSh.
