Which game should I play?

Trying to decide which pokemon game I wanna actually playthrough but can't. Try to give a convincing argument as to why I should play whichever game you think I should.

Tomb Raider (the PS4 definitive edition). Gameplay is great, story is great, and it has gorgeous graphics.
If you want to play Pokemon games, avoid Gen 6 and up. Gameplay is bland, story is bad, and it has N64 - PS2 graphics.

I am a little biased since I personally started with BW, but I chose them specifically to start for these reasons.
From BW I would go to BW, then look at Platinum and XY and decide which you like more.
