While Gen 2 was the peak for me, I still enjoyed 3 and 4 quite a bit. 5 was a little out there, but I still really enjoyed it.
6 had so much hype. New system, 3D, Mega forms. It was going to be so great. And now, years later, I couldn't tell you the name of a single town/trainer aside from the big circle Paris city. It was the first gen that lacked any staying power.
Not to mention, in hindsight, it started the terrible transition to full 3D which has killed pokemon for me. I didn't even buy Let's Go, or Sword&Shield. I played a few minutes at a friend's house, and just thought "I really don't want to keep playing this..."
Hell, just seeing someone in Let's Go WALK down CYCLING Road was enough of a sign for me to jump the fuck off. And this steep drop in quality feels like it started with X&Y
