Take out the handholding and they become surprisingly Kino. It's both a roadtrip and an anniversary game and it has to be approached like it.

Shit games and plot, yes, but Alola had the best world-building of any Pokémon game ever. And the characters that aren't Rirrie and that annoying rival were mostly characters with some depths and backstory attached to them.
