>>45994859I think I agree with this take, judging based on the personalities that we see in R/S/E when interacting with our rival, May seems to be more interested in studying and befriending Pokemon and has a very warm personality, whereas Brendan is a bit colder and shows less interest in you as a person, which tracks if you imagine that he's been raised by a hardass gym leader.
BUT that makes no fucking sense because the Brendan you see if you're playing as May is one who was raised by Birch, so maybe a Brendan bought up by Norman would have an entirely different personality? Who fuckin knows.
I also just like "Brendan Birch" as a name so hmmm
