No one likes to be told the thing they've spent their young adult life on is bad so they'll bend over backwards to defend it.
I would know because I used to be like that when I was a teenager and it took playing a lot of other games and just having more life experience to understand that pinning my entire identity on Pokemon isn't the way to go about life. /vp/'s average userbase is really young and this board probably has the most underage people on the site, I can only hope some of these kids drop Pokemon for a bit and play something else so they can look at this series for what it really is--an amazing concept held back by bad developers in over their heads.
