floatzel/roserade/rapidash, and barrys starter will remain the same. Replace staraptor with corviknight, replace heracross with scrafty, and replace snorlax with drampa.

The DP remakes might not even have held items or abilities.

replace Floatzel with Gastrodon. gives him an electric immunity, and sludge/scald/earth power/recover for a set.
replace roserade with Abomasnow. gives him a fighting chance against flying types. Swords Dance/Ice Punch/Wood Hammer/Ingrain
Honestly snorlax is fine, Staraptor too but replace AA with BB, and Heracross goes against his impatient personality. Yanmega because holy shit its perfect. if you let it speed up once, you basically die. Bug Buzz/Giga Drain/Protect/Air Slash

im hoping that the rival ai they use for the at-league fight goes a bit like the following, assuming that the process is happening AFTER the player selects a move. scummy I know but

basically, it has some "intelligence" behind it

No, it has to go because it's overused and not unique for the rival. If every mother and their Patrat uses it, then the player is rolling their eyes and seeing the same thing for the 50th damn time in the game.
