Nintendo are obscenely, disgustingly rich, have enough cash in reserve to run on heavy losses for the next 70 years, before needing to start selling off IP's to keep the lights on and that's ignoring the actual worth of their IP's to boot. The mouse can't afford it, especially with Mario and Pokémon pouring money into their coffers quicker than disney's recouping its extravagances.
