That's the logic the series using from Fairy beating Dragon; dragons can't piece the fairy's light armor, and their blades of light shatter the dragon's scales.

Then why not make it light type?
Being strong against fighting makes sense because fighters can't keep up with FTL movements, and being strong against dark makes sense because it's harder to commit crimes in broad daylight.

Because calling it "Light" is too limiting

Fairy gives them a lot more leeway (something like Grimmsnarl would never be a Light type) in terms of design, and they can still give them light-based powers
