Why'd they give Red a soulless and generic design for FRLG and made it his main outfit in most depictions of him?

Also they can't decide on what his hair color should be. Here its brown but in Pokemon Masters its black. Just fucking stick with one color.

yeah Red's FRLG design isn't nearly as good, but it could've been worse. like the downgrade from Gold (the best trainer design in the series) to Ethan.
