>>46012714It would make for an interesting gacha game, but that's the most retarded idea I've heard for a mainline one. Pokémon was about exploration, forcing someone to care about a singular town and a singular room to decorate is too gimmicky and stale to be good. Keep it as a minor attraction like secret bases, otherwise, fuck off, it would make the games even worse.
Here's how to fix the mainline games without changing the basic formula:
>less handholding, less forced cutscenes and more hands-off storytelling through worldbuilding, optional dialogue and places>more open region design which allows for some variable paths and gym orders>allow backtracking to reach new places with new PokéRides for example>just way more optional content liked dungeons and sidequests, so that everybody can play at their own pace>difficulty settings>>46012737 and these onesThere are of course more possible changes for the better, like bringing back or adding new optional features like contests or minigames, but we're too deep into shit games so that we should focus on the larger issues, mainly lack of exploration, excessive handholding in both gameplay and plot, and the general distrust of the intelligence of children by GameFreak. That said, that will never happen, because game developing hard for small indie dev studio, please understand.
