The plateau is the tutorial, even the devs themselves said it (it's actually the worldmap in miniature, teaching you the basics of succeeding in the game) after the hang-glider, tutorial's over, you know who you are and what you're supposed to do. At that stage in Pokémon, you can only go one-way, railroaded into playing the game how the devs want you to. That's not open world, sorry you're functionally retarded. And it's not even fighting the endboss from the start, you can fuck off to anywhere in Skyrim and make a fortune, before even touching the rest of the plot after escaping Helgen, something you again can't do in LGPE, once again railroaded into going one-way as the devs intended.
