God I hated they put the mythicals behind event walls, but the events had fucking style. Even when I hacked them with a gameshark and actionreplay, they still felt magical.

I've always felt you had to go through seafoam islands to get to cinnabar and of course you gotta get articuno on the way out, and while you're at it you might as well get Zapdos before going on to victory road and getting moltres there to complete the trio

mix of both. I hate using legendaries so I wait until after the E4 to catch the birds/dogs/whatever. Once I have surf though I always explore around to get rare mons/tms

The northernmost alcove of Route 115 with the Jigglypuff. It doesn't really doesn't serve any practical purpose, but just having linger up there waiting the adventurous player to come check it out is so fucking soulful, not to mention I never even knew it was there until a year ago.

BW2 was really good about this. Castelia Sewers is one of the best Pokemon dungeons. It had slightly different layout depending on the season, and you could discover some small subsections of the city by crawling around. It's also connected to Relic Passage, which makes the Region a bit more interconnected than in BW1.

I really liked Mt.Mortar back in Gen 2. You can get lost pretty easily, but exploring the caves without knowing what's ahead is truly a nice experience.

This place is a great example of why Sinnoh is a downgrade from Hoenn. It's got only a single floor and repeats the same arrow tile mechanic used in several previous games, while Hoenn's optional dungeons like the Abandoned Ship are Shoal Cave have multiple floors and unique mechanics.

Fair point, I do think Shoal Cave in particular is one of the best optional dungeons out there. Rare pokémon, unique way to get Shell Bells and the puzzle of the tides. I always loved finding the icy room and looking for Snorunt there.

A single dungeon without any unique mechanics or setting. It's just generic caves except for the snowy exteriors. And its size and complexity tend to be exaggerated, it's hardly any bigger or more complex than the Victory Roads from either Hoenn or Sinnoh, or even Mt. Mortar in Johto.

Do they still have it in ORAS? is there any more lore connected to it with the documents you can find? I haven't gotten to that part yet.
