Are these games good for a first timer who comes from Pokemon Go and Pokemon Shuffle and is interested in the main series? No I don’t care that the entire dex isn’t in it

Well, if you start with it, your experiences with other games in the franchise can only be better. I'd say go for it, unless you want to emulate something like the Emerald or FRLG, which imo are the best starting points

If you REALLY wanna get eased into it, you can go with Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee, since it has GO catching mechanics and is baby easy compared to other games in the series

These games aren't good for anyone. They set up a poor expectation of what the rest of the series is like for newcomers because they don't deliver on anything its predecessors did much to the dismay of anyone who'd played previous entries. Sword and Shield are half baked garbage that should be forgotten and avoided. I wouldn't be sad if every copy and backup with this game was deleted/destroyed and nobody could ever play it again. It's a mockery of the series.

Even if you go in blind, you'll be left with an empty feeling. I'd recommend Platinum, Heart Gold/Soul Silver, or Fire Red/Leaf Green over Sword and Shield as a starting point.

even if you only have a switch and cant emulate anything id recommend lets go pikachu and eevee as you wont mind all the stuff they took out and can even play the games in order from that point to see all the features added in with each new pokemon game also they look better are way more cute and kanto is just a more well designed region than galar
