Pokemon in general is piss easy offline, the sprites could have definitely been better but a lot of the sprite work was still nice (when it wasn't distorted) and you're right, they are, there's also 493 other mon you can use though so that shouldn't be an issue unless you're allergic to PKhex or something.
Your post sounds like you're just mad because of people liking something you don't like.
For me, Gen V's side/post game content (in BW2's case mostly), interesting story, Seasons, the music (Go Ichinose went fucking ham on the OST) give it more than enough quality to be considered one of the better Gens. Besides, every Gen has had it's resurgence in popularity many years after release. It's been nearly 11 years, anon. People are going to be nostalgic.
