Can one consider himself a fan of this series anymore after the point where there are more games you dislike than you like?

I think someone who was a fan of the series until GF's incompetence really began to hurt the games can still be considered a fan. If you like Gens 1 through 5 then you like the majority of the series and dislike the direction the new games took.
Someone who isn't a fan is a genwunner who only knows/likes Gen 1 and actively shits on everything else and demands the games appeal only to him, someone like that is who I consider a non-fan outsider because he only likes effectively 1/8th of the franchise.

sure. can you be a disney fan if you don't like the shitty bargain bin direct to video sequels that are always about their kids finding love, with bottom of the barrel songs and animation? you can be a fan of the ones you consider good and not the ones you consider bad. you can be a fan because you're fond of things from your childhood but don't like the change in direction. and in the same vein kids these days are still fans of the series if they only like the modern games they grew up with and don't like the barebones vintage sprites and monsters that aren't cute colourful characters bursting with personality.

I don't even think it's Nugenners at this point. The real downfall is GF not giving 2 shits about anyone over the age of 10 and figuring out the bare minimum they can get away with since 10 yos don't have standards and they can get by on brand recognition alone.

To be honest, seeing what kind of low-iq brainlet is your stereotypical Pokemon fan nowadays i hesitate to call myself a Pokemon fan. It feel like entering a pool where for sure you know at least 3 people pissed, some retarded kid shitted his pants and some hobo just walked in and puked.
Still, i enjoy Pokemon up to generation 7, even with all their flaws. Gen 8 is shit, tho. And GF puts way too much into merchandise, which sucks.
