>>46019250>"Bruxish being garish makes it bad because it succeeded in being garish"Anon, the entire point of the Pokemon is that it's a triggerfish mixed with dazzle camo that implements it by way of making it literally dazzling with a psychedelic body pattern and overtly aggressive make-up. With it's weird protrusion on the head it even vaguely resembles a submarine. It's ability even reflects this perfectly.
Yes, anon, the context behind a Pokemon can indeed make or break it. Calyrex was widely hated before release because the uncanny, bizarre design was thought to clash with it's perceived status as a ruling king who held power over Galar. When it came out and it was revealed to be more of a folklore fairy creature that had faded into obscurity and that others found creepy and off-putting, more people warmed up to it because they thought the design made more sense when contextualized within the story. The Ultra Beasts intentionally break all of the rules of standard mon' design, but it works because they're all extradimensional monsters.
You can dislike Bruxish, and you can dislike Bruxish because you think it's garish, but thinking Bruxish is indefensible shit because you dislike the concept and reasoning behind the garishness (or just don't really know it) is dumb.
