Gen 5 is easily my favorite generation, and i think it did my favorite type (Ghost) justice. Golurk, Litwick, and Chandrelure are my top 3 favorite Pokemon period, and Yamask, Cofagrigus, Lampent, and Golett are also good designs. For say, Steel types, I think gen 3 did them the best. Registeel, Aggron, Aron, and Mawile are all great, and Lairon is ok. All of them are 8/10s at worst. What region do you think has the best designs of each type? Like for example my incomplete list would be Ghost: Gen 5 Steel: Gen 3 Flying:? Grass:? Fire:? you get the idea.

>Normal Definitely Gen 1, there was such a huge variety. Although 3 had a few based ones too>Fire Tough one, I'm not a huge fan of Fire designs in general, and they're pretty scarce in every Gen. 5 had quite a few good ones with new unique typings. >Water Can't really go wrong with any Gen 1-3. They all added such a huge amount of them. >Grass Gen 3 added tons of great ones with cool typings. Although I'll give a shoutout to Gen 6 for having every single one of it's Grass types look great (even if it only added like 3 lines) >Electric Another type I dislike in general. I'd probably go with Gen 1 and 5 for at least having things other than 'animal painted yellow' >Ice 4 for sure, although most of them are cross-gens to older Pokemon. Weirdly enough I like 8's Ice types a lot too. >Fighting Literally every Gen added a bunch of great Fighting types. What a based type.>Poison 1 overused the Poison type imo, but the designs are all still solid with a bunch of typings that are still unique. 4 had a full house of great Poison types too though.>Ground Gen 4, absolutely no contest>Flying Again I love every Gen's selection. Although I think 2 added some of the best overall. >Psychic Gen 1 or 3 I think>Bug Bug might as well not existed until Gen 5>Rock 1 or 3 again>Ghost Another type with no bad entries. But 4 and 5 finally started adding more than a couple of mediocre Ghost lines each region, so that's good. >Dragon This is basically just the legendary/pseudo type - neither of which I ever use. So I like Gens 3 and 6 for having a few regular Dragon types to play around with. >Dark 3 probably>Steel 3/8 I'd say>Fairy Gen 7 finally gets a win I feel like I'm overall biased towards Gens 1+3 because I feel they're the most consistently good dexes so this maybe isn't fair. Other Gens have some really great stuff but also a lot of trash alongside.
