I unironically had like 700 hours in Emerald (my first game) and would just wander around the entire map levelling up my pokemon to lv 100 or doing the battle fronteir for no fucking reason
I remember one time I literally spent WEEKS just fucking breeding my pokemon on that route with the day care you can bike left and right really far
Obviously if you spend 700 hours in the game you'll end up wasting a bunch of time in the ruins of alph and maybe eventually you'd figure it out
