Incineroar is better than Cinderace and Rillaboom is better than Greninja. Doesn't mean the Protean pair aren't good, but overall bulk and team support with abilities is not only more stable offensively it is way less likely to be power creeped compared to stab the ability.

They didn’t. They’re pretty well liked! The reason you don’t see as much posting about them right now is because they were last gen so they’re old news but aren’t old enough to be nostalgic yet. Just give them five years or so and you’ll see the same love you do for Gen 3 and Gen 4 starters now.

They didn't, it's just they're not as shilled as others. When they did try to shill, they shilled the wrong one (Incineroar), which caused them to think they weren't popular, but Decidueye and the first stages are very popular.

Legions of popular pokemon have mascot fursuits, doesn't change the fact that Cinderace has a tiny torso with giant lower body and marshmallow arms all of which you'd never see in a fursona, while Incineroar is alot closer to them.

Incineroar has a tiny lower body with a giant torso which goes well beyond normal proportions, you can see in that image that Cinderace (along with Blaziken) is a lot closer to human proportions than Incineroar is. And don't pretend like furries care either way, they'll just draw both of them off-model any ways. Stop making excuses and just accept the rabbit is a fursuit.

They bungled it in Gen 7, they put Incineroar in Smash and made him the meta Pokemon when Rowlet was more popular, but then GF made Decidueye sucked ass. The fact that there was even a debate between Bara and Owlfags is proof that Incineroar failed. There was no argument with Greninja, everyone kneeled to him, same with Cinderace.

I think by the time the anime rolled out they realized how obscenely popular Rowlet was and stuck with it, but the suits had initially gone all in on the Tiger which is why Alola even has a wrestling scene in the first place and why Incineroar was datamined with the best ability in the game day 1..

I think the "giving the shillmon a specific place in the region for it to show off" was introduced in Gen 7. What I don't get is how people say Incineroar ISN'T the shillmon as if it makes any sense for hawaii to have such a focus on wrestling, nor do I get how people didn't think Scorbunny wasn't gonna be shillmon as soon as we saw Gen 7 taking place in giant football fields.

GF is extremely blatant with this kind of thing.

Exactly, the Pokemon youtube channel even made these brochures about the Galar region and Cinderace is the only starter that really gets mentioned along with his correlation to the Galar football/gym stadiums.
