I'm no trying to start a gen war, but I'm officially giving up on Gen IV. Those games are too slow when compared to III and V. I wish I could enjoy them, specially since HG/SS is so comfy, but I can't. Even with the animations turned off, those games are a slog.

That's it. I'll still keep worshiping Cynthia and the other Gen IV Goddesses tho.

I actually started a thread saying essentially the opposite, but I understand your viewpoint, it stands to reason that gens 3 and 5 would be better cause they're paced better both in gameplay and in story. Gen 4 is just inherently always gonna be a slog for people who don't utterly love it because it really is a very slow and steady game, it can take upwards of 30 hours just to do the main game so if you don't LOVE the region it'll feel like a chore

I feel you. I am a big fan of HGSS, so I have no clue as to why Platinum makes me never want to go back to it. I wish that I could have fun with it, but it just feels so empty at times. It doesn't help that it takes ages to finish compared to other games. Even doing Unova postgame to level up for Alder in BW felt less of a slog.

Gen 4 is officially confirmed by scientists to be the worst gen, don't feel bad. It's slow, boring, uninspiring, the new pokemon sucks, the new evos to old pokemon are terrible. Just a bad experimental gen made only for the devs to learn how to develop on the DS. Just see how much of an improvment they made even on just HGSS.

I actually played HGSS when it came out, and I loved it. I loved the QoL improvements, the comfy vibes, the following mons... but then I played V and VI, then went back to it IV because I hated VII... it was so slow. I didn't remember it being so bad. Maybe the romhacking community will release a patch in the future to fix that?

I tried Platinum a few days ago, since I had finished HGSS only when it came out. It was super slow. Pair the static sprites with the slow animations, and it simply ruins the experience for me. I never turned off the animations on V and VI, and it was somehow faster than IV without the animations on.

Gen 4 is literally unplayable without x2+ speed on emulator. Playing at normal speed is on the same level of tedium as math with an abacus instead of a calculator. Not a zoomer just ADHD.

Same here. Every other gen I could at least play the non-level grinding parts of my first runs on normal speed, but Platinum was the only game I used speed up on nearly every section.
