>>46030624I use to collecting during mid/late XY era and early Sun Moon era. I would buy a booster box here and there and when I was in shops I would pick up the collection boxes and odd tins here and there. I did it for two reasons, the primary reason was because I enjoyed looking at the art and there was an experience I would get from cracking open a pack and seeing what was inside, brought me back to childhood memories and the thrill of gambling to see if I would hit it big with a rare kept me coming back. The secondary reason was because you'd get code cards in each pack to use on the online version of the game which I used to actually play the game.
Stopped collecting like this after the third expansion of sun/moon because the game felt bit souless to me after the dissapointing video game. I was also pretty depressed back then so that might have been a reason for it also.
Recently I got back into MTG and been reminiscing on memories of being in college and first getting into the game. It also reminded me on my childhood memories of the first time being exposed to Pokemon on the playground when I was 4/5 and first getting into any sort of trading card game. I had a lot of my old cards but I sold the majority of them long ago so now im collecting the unlimited versions of base set / fossil and jungle cards that are missing from my collection.
I don't give a shit about investing or money gained from flipping I just want the offical pieces of cardboard which act as a time machine to take me back to days much easier. Plus the WOTC art is eptiome of soul
