I give it a 7/10. A rewatch would probably find it neat. I'll admit I went to see it in the theatres by myself since I had just moved to a new city and didn't know anyone, and wanted to do something on a random weekend night. Was pretty laid back experience. Nothing like the sheer joy of Pokemon: The Movie. Very faithful in some areas and a little too faithful in others. No one is nostalgic for fucking Psyduck, they are nostalgic for Red and Blue, Ash and Gary. And Misty, why not.
I wouldn't mind a sequel. Maybe a crime happens at a tournament or a contest hall and Pikachu decides to join in to crack the case. Ms. Congeniality style. Get some real battles or showmanship.
