I really enjoyed my time with ORAS, but that was a simple playthrough after not touching Hoenn for like 10 years. For some reason I can't bring myself to finish gen 7, though I do enjoy it a lot when I play.

XY are nice, I like the chibi overworld and the towns are comfy. Dress-up was the best in the series until gen 8
ORAS redid the gen 3 music well and soaring was an amazing feature, or at least would be with competent developers.
SuMo had some good pokemon designs and great characters.
SwSh has dress-up, nothing else.

Brining back following mons and expanding upon it was the best thing about LGPE. It's a shame it got stuck in a barebones kanto remake that doesn't even have wild battles

XY's pace for the first 2 gyms is great, and the variety of areas is really nice.
ORAS' Deoxys fight was a really nice surprise.
SM' totem fights were a good idea for making actual bosses outside of trainers, and making boss fights with trainers more interesting too.
Haven't played USUM onwards.

Mega Evolution and Primal Reversion are great concepts that should have been a permanent addition instead of starting a "Generational gimmick", because it gave birth to some of my most favorite designed Pokemon, namely Mega Lucario, Blaziken and Rayquaza.

QoL addition carried over from past generation made this game slightly better than RS, but not from Emerald.
As always, the remixed and remastered musics are a banger.
