No one wants pokemon to be an e-sport.
I will however defend it being a competitive game because there is a lot of depth to it and the fact casuals are so bad at it is proof of it.

The true unfortivable sins are attacks that can miss (especially when there are so many ridiclously good attacks that can't) and the concept of PP that has never achieved what it was meant to do and would be much better achieved by some kind of stamina system.

The fact that there is so much depth to it is why I hate the dice rolls.
Having so many choices of mons, abilities, moves, items, and EV spreads should mean that your choices are important, but then you can just lose because a crit or miss happened and it was entirely out of your control.

I proposed a change to crits.
Impossible to crit a pokemon the first turn it is in, and the crit rate slowly rises the longer that pokemon is out, capping out at a small percent, but larger than the current standard crit rate. Mainly implemented so that critical checks and counters don't cost you the game by a crit. And to help nerf stallcucks that just spam recover over and over trying to waste your time/PP while they fish for a miss or something

That isn't proof of anything anon. Look at shit like League of Legends. It's hands down one of the most simplistic mobas yet it managed to stranglehold the genre for several years purely because it was appealing to casuals and Riot basically held venues hostage. Even to this day it's more popular as a competitive game than it should be.

I know absolutely nothing of League of Legends but that sounds like it's an e-sport but not a competitive game.
A competitive game completely filters casual faggots, which is something Pokemon does a fantastic job of.

It is a competitive game. Despite being casual friendly it still filters casuals through ranking tiers.

That doesn't mean it has depth though. It actually has less depth than the WC3 mod it spawned from and every other major moba which has appeared since then.
