Same thing they usually do for every other area. There's no oxygen meter while at coronet's peak that forces you to take breaks. They could have just left it as slightly slowed movement speed and called it a day, gets the atmosphere across and doesn't last long enough to show how annoying it is.

Even platinum isn't up to snuff. But my point was that hoenn was far more visually interesting with shittier graphics and then d/p came out and the region was the most boring and forgettable trash in the entire series. The fact platinum upgraded the appearance of pretty much everything means even GF knew this was the case.

Those were a good addition, and justified the sinkholes where present. But iirc, not every area had non-dark paths through them.

it doesn't really have to make sense to you, just overall immersion and the feel of the region. Pokemon and other games have different ways of showcasing this from hoenn having dive spots in long water routes or kanto's seafoam having a maze puzzle with a legendary deep within

route 212 is the only mandatory route with mud and it has non dark patches. The marsh is completely optional.

These are great anon, were you in the overworld map thread we had some time ago? I love these stuff and am so glad to finally get overviews of the bridges. I knew the guidebooks had them but no one seems to have uploaded them in all these years. Very glad to have these pics, especially the Castelia docks, since there is no in-game map of the city anywhere. Would be nice to see the rest of its streets but I’m not pushing you

Hoenn's map is the only one in the series that actually feels like a real, coherent landmass. Just look how everything fits together with zero abrupt transitions, and terrain features even continuing on the other side of blank areas. It's like those bubble edits that make people look naked - you could easily fill in the missing areas to make a complete seamless map.
