It's possibly they're releasing small sets of merch like stickers, cookies, etc for each gen to start the hype for the anniversary. Sort of like the whole generation review they always shoehorn in the directs where they look at Pokemon's history.
However, I believe on their main twitter account they said the Pokemon company is celebrating a gen for each month so that's what I thought this was. I don't know if there's a better site, but I use PokeShopper to see what new merch is coming out for the next few months:
