Routes usually don't diverge into more than two paths in Pokemon games so they are not complicated, however Alola really dropped the ball with them. 3D perspective makes them look smaller than the ones from previous generations and the lack of different paths on most of them is really apparent. Places like Route 5 (near Brooklet Hill) and Route 12 (near Blush Mountain) are the only ones with more complexity (and even those are just a bunch of circles instead of one/two lines). I personally like Route 7 but
>>46073410 is overselling it. Going 5 steps into a bush is not a branching path. It's laughable to think that.
But simple routes would be tolerable if dungeons were more complicated. Remember Seaward Cave and Ten Carat Hill in Melemele? Can be fully explored within 3 minutes. Wela Volcano and Lush Jungle in Akala? The former teleports you between straight paths and the latter is pretty much as big as Viridian Forest at best.
Vast Poni Canyon is the only big landmark I remember in SM. Haina Desert too but that one is bullshit.
>>46072467Same, I like this detail. Additionally, the animation of those signs (the ones with route names on them) is nice.
>>46074249Frost Cavern, Victory Road and Terminus Cave are similar to landmarks like Chargestone Cave, Mistralton Cave and Reversal Mountain.
